As the morning of Friday 13th of June grew towards midday, the government watched and ... realised with mounting horror that they had not only lost the referendum for the Lisbon treaty, but had lost badly. In the end, with a turnout higher than both Nice referendums and European elections, the Irish electorate had cast more No votes, than the number that elected the FF government last year.

The Assembly plans to charge us for water from next April. Even though the DUP and Sinn Fein said they opposed the water tax when they wanted votes, they don’t regard that as important. They got the votes and now they can ignore the promises.
“Oppose the imposition of water charges and the privatisation of the water service, and any other forms of regressive double-taxation”

“Other parties are against water charges now but the DUP has been consistently opposed to the scheme”(DUP, 2007 policy document)

Θα την αφήσουμε στα χέρια της Shell και οι παχιές γάτες (σ.τ.μ.: εννοεί τα αφεντικά) θα γίνονται παχύτερες; Θα προσπαθήσουμε να πείσουμε την κυβέρνηση Bertie να τις εθνικοποιήσει για να χρησιμοποιήσει τα κέρδη της προς όφελός μας;
While Martin McGuinness was flying off to ‘sell’ the North to American investors with promises of low corporation tax, we are in the midst of wee bit of class war with classroom assistants and posties taking action to defend their interests against ‘the new era’ of the bosses. How accountable are the gardaí to the Irish people

WSM members from Dublin and Cork took part in the protests, here we present their account of what happened along with a selection of photographs from indymedia.ie.
The Workers Solidarity Movement is urging anarchists and other supporters of Shell To Sea to get to Rossport for the day-of-action on November 9th. WSM members will join people from around the country in showing, one year since Gardai batoned protesters, that we will not be intimidated.
