Workers - Know Your Rights

Date:

IWU Information stall and leaflettingThe Dublin branch of the Independent Workers Union will mark Mayday, International Workers' Day, by setting up an information stall and distributing 'Know Your Rights' leaflets at the Larkin Statue, O'Connell Street at 5:30pm on Tuesday 1st May.
The leaflets will include information on some basic rights guaranteed by law - including minimum wage, maternity pay, sick pay, employment contracts etc. and will call on workers to join the union in order to fight to improve their rights and seek better working conditions.
The leaflets will also contain a call to organise to fight for double time for Sunday work.
Mayday 2007 is celebrated at a time when trade union organisation - especially among the low-paid - is not as strong as it was in times past. On this Mayday the IWU calls on all workers - native and immigrant alike - to join our union and to begin to fight back against exploitation and low pay.
Please come along and join with us in this event and show solidarity with fellow workers across the globe as we celebrate International Workers' Day.
In the words of James Larkin "The great only appear great because we are on our knees. Let us arise."
