If you are not familiar with the infamous Come Here to Me blog then you should really have a look at it or the book and join thousands of other readers finding out about social history in Dublin. There are over 2,000 stories on the site addressing many different facets of everyday life and culture in Dublin from forgotten lanes, to overlooked monuments through to stories about the Gards, the eating habits of Dubs, and clubbing in the 50's and everything in between. The site has won a number of awards over the years and two of the authors spoke at the Dublin Anarchist Bookfair to a crowd of academics, librarians, archivists and many interested members of the general public.

The ARN Public Journal Launch is this Thursday May 2nd at Trinity College Dublin Sociology Department College Green, 5-7 pm. The event will be held at Department of Sociology Trinity College Dublin 3 College Green Dublin 2. (Please note that this is not at the large campus, but on Dame Street between Starbucks and Costa)

A book launch event and talk from two members of the Free Association from Leeds, who last year published the book "Moments of Excess". The talk will look back at the movements and period covered by the book, from Reclaim the Streets, the anti-G8 protests of the 2000s, up to the London Student riots a couple of years ago.

The massive vote by union members to reject the 'Croke Park Extension' proposals was a clear and unambiguous rejection of government attempts to impose yet another 1billion of austerity cuts on public service workers.  It was also a clear statement of opposition to the trade union leadership's decision to enter talks on the basis of these cuts in the first place.

RAG is a diverse group of anarcha-feminist women in Dublin. They produce a magazine, The Rag, organise film screenings and fundraisers, host public discussions, conduct workshops and zine distro.  A conversation between Clare Butler and Angela Coraccio of the Revolutionary Anarcha- Feminist Group (RAG) and Leticia Ortega of RAG and the Workers Solidarity Movement (WSM).

Around lunchtime on April 15th we received word that there was an anti-eviction protest underway on Manor street in Dublin outside a house that had been squatted.  A Garda had called at the door that morning and after being refused entrance had said he'd be back later with more Garda. The building had been squatted on and off a couple of times in recent years and was recently re-occupied.

Creative and Direct Action from the Abortion Rights Campaign are looking to create a zine about choice, which would be one of many. We will be doing the zine making workshop on Tuesday 30th April at 7.30pm in Seomra and you are welcome to join us. This can be the first of many zines that can be targeted to different groups e.g. teens, Y-Factor, etc.

It's 21 years since the X Case, when the Supreme Court ruled that abortion is legal if pregnancy poses a risk to a woman's life – including by suicide. (X was 14 and suicidal because she was pregnant due to rape).  Despite the death of Savita Halappanavar, the government continues to delay legislating to allow abortion if pregnancy poses a risk to a woman's life. Action on X have called a protest at City Hall (Dublin Castle) Monday, 29 April 2013 at 18:00
